Species Description |
---|
The Juan Fernandez Petrel is a South Pacific ocean bird whose breeding grounds are entirely restricted to Alejandro Selkirk Island, part of the Juan Fernandez Islands, off of Chile. Like most seabirds, it feeds on small fish and squid, and can usually be found in areas of upwelling (where the water is most nutrient-rich). The Juan Fernandez Petrel does not dive for food; as such, it is reliant upon underwater predators (such as dolphins and tuna) to drive schools of fish to the surface. |
