Species Description
The Little Tern, Sterna albifrons, is a member of the family Sternidae. The bird is 21-25 cm in length and has a wingspan of 41-47 cm. The bill is thin, sharp and yellow. This bird breeds temperate and tropical Europe and Asia, on the coasts and the waterways. It is defensive of its nest and in response, the young will attack intruders. This bird feeds by plunge-diving for fish in salt-water environments.
