Species Description
The Double-striped Thick-knee is a bird native to Central and South America. It is a medium-sized bird averaging about 50 cm long and weighs three quarters of a kilogram. The Double-striped Thick-knee eats large insects and other small invertebrates and vertebrates. The Double-striped Thick-knee can fly, but often uses crouching and camouflage to avoid predation. This bird is nocturnal and is sometimes semi-domesticated because of its insect controlling properties.
