The Violet Turaco is a very noticeable and conspicuous bird. It is brightly colored with a glossy primary color. It has an orange beak, yellow forehead, and crimson colored crown. This bird is about a foot and a half long and is resident of West Africa. It prefers the tropical climates of the forests found there. The Violet Turaco feeds primarily on fruits and seeds and has exhibited cooperative reproduction behavior among members in captivity. This means that members of the same society of birds care for young that is not their own.
