Species Description
The Western Plantain-eater is also known by the scientific name Crinifer piscator. This large aboreal bird is closely related to true passerines, thus we call it a "near passerine." It lives in the woodlands of tropical West Africa and feeds on fruits such as figs. The bird can grow to 50cm in length and is characterized by brown feathers with silver-streaking on the chest and head.
