Species Description
The Canada Goose is a common waterfowl found throughout North America and Europe. They are mostly herbivorous, but will eat insects on occasion. There are at least 11 known subspecies of Canada Goose; they tend to be smaller the more northward the population, and darker the more westward. They are naturally migratory, but mild climates in their summer ranges have reduced the migrations of some populations. The rise in safe, predator-free bodies of water (such as in golf courses and urban parks) have also decreased the need for migration.
