Species Description
The Pompadour Green Pigeon (also known as the Grey-Fronted Green Pigeon or Sri Lankan Green Pigeon) is a widespread resident of tropical south Asia (Pakistan and India) to Sri Lanka and the Philippines. A medium-sized pigeon, it lives in the rainforest (or other dense, wet woodland), where it subsists on a variety of nuts, fruits and seeds. There are several distinct populations in India and on islands, with different color patterns, but all individuals derive their green coloring from chemical pigments in their diet.
